The Back Story

Julia is a Family-owned and community oriented Women’s Jewelry & Fashion Accessories Retailer with multiple stores located in the Central Valley area of California.  Julia seeks to provide an approachable luxury to their loyal customers.

Retail Habitats was selected by Julia to elevate their interior design beyond the previous “DIY” look & layout of their first two successful stores.

The initial concept, and vision goal was to redesign the entire esthetic, including the logo and environmental graphics.  Retail Habitats updated imagination of the space attracted new clientele and retained Julia’s existing customer base thereby maintaining its integrity.

Evolution Of A Brand

It was determined at the onset of the partnership with Retail Habitats the business’ name, formerly “Julia Vogue,” would be shortened to simply put, yet elegant brand identity of “Julia” to be more appealing to their target clientele.

Clean lines with a simple “mark” created an air of refinement allowing for easy integration into various customer touch points such as signage, shelf talkers and merchandise tags showing the brand identity.

Interior Concept

Julia’s past experience led them to specify their requirement of utilizing both a flexible, and contemporary display to exude a more sophisticated look.  The presentation was achieved by using natural materials with “neutral” finishes such as white brick, steel outriggers and a custom designed “slatted” wood hat display.

Additionally, partnerships with third party jewelers like Pandora, Alex & Ani, and Kendra Scott were taken into consideration.  The unique array of display & merchandising requirements by each of the parties range from in-house development to ready-to-ship fixtures, and allow for “ground up” display solutions.

Retail Habitats custom presentation next required approval before moving forward from Julia, and Kendra Scott. The design blends seamlessly into the overall concept while providing the necessary differentiation for Kendra Scott’s in-store “real estate.”

Custom Fabrication & Installation

Following the final sign off on the design, Retail Habitats’ manufacturing team fabricated all of the custom millwork for the store and worked in concert with Julia’s existing General Contractor for delivery and install. The resulting environment creates a comfortable, upscale feel that speaks to the “on trend” sensibilities of the target clientele.

Having opened its doors in January, 2017, Julia will continue to build brand equity under their new identity and has plans for additional expansion throughout the region.
